Raz Abbasi wins Excellence Award in Green Chemistry and Sustainability

Congratulations to PhD student, Raz Abbasi who is 2024 Queen’s Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society (Q-ACS) Excellence Award in Green Chemistry and Sustainability (Graduate Student Category).

Raz is co- supervised by Michael Cunningham and Philip Jessop from the Department of Chemistry. Her project focuses on CO2-switchable chemistry and polymers, specifically their application in the development of environmentally friendly paints and coatings. Her focus lies in formulating high-performance, and greener solutions for this industry. Raz received her Master of Science in Polymer Engineering from the Iran Polymer and Petrochemical Institute. She was recently published as first author in RSC Applied Polymers, Crosslinking CO2-switchable polymers for paints and coatings applications.

Raz will receive her award at the Q-ACS Spring Reception event on March 28th, dedicated to celebrating green chemistry and sustainability.
